Profile of Northwest A&F University
Northwest A&F University is a national key university directly under the jurisdiction of Chinese Ministry of Education. It is one of the top universities in China and is supported by the central government under national “Project 211” and “Project 985” programs. These programs aim to develop a number of world-class universities in China. It is also one of the 56 universities in China having graduate school programs.
The university is located in Yangling Demonstration Zone of Agricultural Hi-tech Industries, a famous agricultural town, 80 km west of Xi’an, capital of Shaanxi Province. Shaanxi is one of the most important original places of Chinese civilization and enjoys the fame of its “Natural History Museum”. Also in Xi’an is located one of the eight wonders of the world, “Qin Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses”. Shaanxi Province attracts more and more interest in its profound cultures and customs of people inhabiting the Loess Plateau. The university enjoys a good geographical position and an efficient transportation system. The picturesque landscape and building arrangement render the campuses all the more attractive as an ideal place for study and research.
Northwest A&F University is a comprehensive university with well-developed programs in agriculture, forestry and water resources. Fields of study cover agronomy, science, engineering, economics, management, literature, veterinary medicine, law, philosophy, history and education. The university has developed many distinctive and strong disciplines such as dry land farming, pedology, agricultural soil and water engineering, plant pathology, clinical veterinary medicine, soil and water conservation linked to desertification control, crop genetics and breeding as well as agricultural economics and management.
The university supports a strong faculty and advanced instruction facilities. It has 17 colleges (departments) with 59 undergraduate programs, 105 master’s programs, 71 doctoral programs and 8 post-doctoral programs. It has more than 20,000 undergraduates and about 5,000 postgraduates.
The university has established cooperative relations with over 60 universities and research institutes all over the world. More than 500 international professors and scholars from different universities and institutes from numerous countries come to visit the university and conduct academic activities annually. The list of countries sending international students to Yangling includes the United States, Germany, France, Austria, Japan, Iran etc.
Northwest A&F University is one of the universities in China qualified to accept international students and Chinese Government Scholarship sponsored students. The students with outstanding academic records may apply for the university scholarship.Degree Programs:
Program duration: Undergraduate program: 4 years; Master’s program: 3 years; Doctoral program: 3 years
Eligibility: For undergraduate study, the applicants should have a high school diploma or above；for master’s degree program, the applicants should have a bachelor degree or above; for doctoral degree program, a certificate of master degree is needed.
Those who apply for programs in Chinese should pass the HSK Examinations (Chinese Level Examinations) (can get training in NWAFU); those who apply for programs in English (some Master grog rams and doctoral programs) should demonstrate proficiency in the English language. An applicant, whose primary language in not English, must achieve a minimum score of 550 on TOEFL (the Test of English as a Foreign Language) or 6.0 on IELTS (the International English Language Testing System

Programs
Language Programs
Program duration: 4-week, 8-week, 12-week, one semester or more
Class arrangements: There are 20 teaching classes each week from Monday to Friday
Fall Semester: From September to January
Spring Semester: From March to July
Major courses: Reading, Oral Chinese, Listening comprehension, Writing, and etc.
Field trip and cultural activities: Loess Plateau in northern Shaanxi visit, Xi’an city tour and cultural activities is organized each semester.
Eligibility: Applicants should have high school diploma or higher schooling degrees.

For spring semester: January 15
For other time training, please apply at least 2 months before the arrival.
Visit Students Programs：
Program duration: One semester or more
Eligibility: Applicants should have high school diploma or higher schooling degrees.

Campus accommodation
The international students’ dormitory is on the campus. There is public kitchen room, laundry. Double beds apartment has bathroom, television, air conditioner, telephone, Internet, bookshelf with desk and table.
